Just singing, and dancing, in the rain...

Thank you, media, for telling me it's Blue Monday today. Well, I don't want to play, thank you! It was dark and cold this morning when I woke up and I could hear the rain and the wind. And all too soon J was shouting "It's morning time Mummy" in my ear (it really wasn't). Yet seeing so much coverage actually wants me make to step out in the opposite direction and say, even if we can't quite get to jolly, we can put our focus on looking after ourselves in the best possible way for us, until we can move ourselves to a more jolly mindset. And do you know, the sun has come out this afternoon too!

3 things I've already done that were jolly today...

Danced on the school run to "singing in the rain" with my twins

They loved it! They were dancing along with me. A 5 year old generally sees the joy and fun in the rain and runs headlong towards the muddiest puddle that they can find, wonders when they can have a lovely umbrella like other people have, and generally just sees it as another day. It's a good reminder of just how much we can choose how we respond.

Lunch and the biggest hot chocolate!

Yes, it's January, I'm supposed to be losing some weight, lalala, but look how perfect this hot chocolate was! It was so nice to have an early lunch and treat myself to this lovely drink. It made me feel cosy and hygge. Connecting with my loved one reminds me that I'm not on my own and they're only ever a phone call away on the days we can't be together.

Listed handpainted cards in my etsy shop - yay new things!

I've been a little slow getting back into the working vibe since Christmas, and that's OK! But it was equally good to start moving more surely back towards work mindset today and thinking about what I want my shop and my work to look like in 2018.

Are these things big things? No. Of course they aren't. But they've had a big impact on how I feel about my day. And they remind me that it's the small things that add up to how we spend our lives. Whether today is about finding and celebrating the little things, or giving yourself a little extra self care and grace and attention, may you see it not as blue Monday but find a little light in the day.

Until next time, may you find the jolly in your Monday *and every other day!*
