What's in your emergency self care kit? Summer selfcare practice 20 August 2018

Especially when I am going away I like to have a little emergency selfcare kit with me. Things that make me feel good. Reminders about the intentions and mantras I want to hold or behaviours I want to live. I started this the first time that we took a long trip on the train on a family holiday. Travelling with two small people can be a bit stressful when you are juggling all the many things you need, two small people with an exploring mind, and two buggies whilst getting on a

Little love notes to the soul - summer selfcare practice 13 August

It's easy I find to keep a log in my head of all the things I am not so good at. The trick is to focus on the good, on what you can do and on what is working. Part and parcel of creating a selfcare practice is to get used to seeing the good in yourself, rather than the stories that you are used to telling yourself about how we are. Selfcare practice - write yourself a love note this week. When we show up with love, we can do great things. This is no less true when we talk and

Put your mask on first - why I do what I do. Inspiration from Patti Digh

Patti Digh is one of the people who just inspires me when they write. I have several of her books and love the way that they mix artwork and writing as it takes me deeper into the work. I hugely recommend checking her books out. There have been several key times in my life where one of the pieces I have read in her book as made such a mark, resonated so much, that it has led to a huge new way of thinking or underpins the changes I have made. Life is a verb is a beautiful book

Introducing the CSheehanArt Life is Beautiful Collection

I am very excited to introduce the new Life is Beautiful Range launching today. This is the first full collection I have launched and I am so pleased to be able to share it with you after all the sneak peeks on social media! It's already had an unofficial launch at a local artisan fair to great feedback so I am glad I can now bring this online to a wider audience. Life is beautiful...let's celebrate the small moments As you may know my aim is to create beautiful gifts and sta

    Monday Morning SelfCare Invitation: Light

Today I am starting what I hope to be a new series of blog posts featuring a small artwork designed to be a Monday Morning selfcare practice. The reality is that it is often easy to think about selfcare on a Saturday or Sunday when we have the real time and choice to slow down or stop but can feel much more challenging to do so on a Monday when we have the kids to get to school and the commute and work to get done (or whatever version of that is our current reality. And altho

Monday Motivation - one small thing done with great love

It's Monday and it's so easy to feel overwhelmed, when you come back after a lovely weekend and look at all the things you'd love to get done within the week! I'm feeling it this weekend after a lovely weekend chilling out in the garden and having a mini at home party for the royal wedding, just the four of us. Even the boys watched (most!) of it! So today I'm starting this new theme....One small thing done with great love. I hope it inspires you to think about how it is ofte

Flow, allowing unfolding and what I learnt about my own self care in January

January was all about letting go of the end of 2017. I came out of the Christmas period slowly - I think I was so relaxed after creating some lovely Christmas memories at home, I was very slow to get going this year. Normally I would have been pushing myself back to work and to get things done, but this year with my focus on delight and self care I found myself much more gentle with myself. I made a few commitments to myself, and set out to honour these through the month. Goi

Just singing, and dancing, in the rain...

Thank you, media, for telling me it's Blue Monday today. Well, I don't want to play, thank you! It was dark and cold this morning when I woke up and I could hear the rain and the wind. And all too soon J was shouting "It's morning time Mummy" in my ear (it really wasn't). Yet seeing so much coverage actually wants me make to step out in the opposite direction and say, even if we can't quite get to jolly, we can put our focus on looking after ourselves in the best possible way
